Day 2 (Two): Family

I may not have the best family, but let me tell you some about them. My father and mother divorced when I was 6. Mother took my younger brother and myself, and father took my second older sister, while my grandmother (Dad’s mom), took my oldest. When I was 7, my mother left my brother and I at my other grandma’s (Mom’s mom). She raised me until I was 17 and I left home.

I am one out of seven children. I have 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Am I close with my family? No, but I am close with my grandmother, the woman who raised me. I am still in the process of getting close with the rest of my family members. Those include my younger 4 siblings and my grandmother (Dad’s mom).

I’ve been putting this post off for awhile because I didn’t know what I wanted to write about. Family is suppose to be there for you, as you are suppose to be there for them. I sometimes think that I am mentally screwed up because I never had any family there for me other than my younger brother and my grandma, the woman who raised me who I am today.

I call her every day. I know she likes it, even if it is a short five minute talk. She’s older and I know she doesn’t have many people to talk to. I don’t have many people to talk to. She keeps me up to date with the family news, and I keep her up to date with my life here in Georgia. Now, would she ever fly to see me? No, but I would do it for her if I had the money.

I will say this, the family that I have gotten to know…They are Tony’s family. Everyone from his parents, grand parents, aunt, and younger brothers have been just the best to me. I know I’m not the best person in the world, but they treat me like I am.

Sometimes, I don’t know what to say or I say something that I just end up regretting later. But they do not hold me to that. They love me for who I am. I love them too!

They have become part of my heart, my life, and my family.

“Are we going to see your family today Tony?” I would say.
“No, we are going to see our family today.” He would say back.

I just wanted to say thank you.

New Year Resolution

This past week, I have decided to put my new year resolution to test. At the beginning of the year, I went to the doctors to get a check up and see how much I’d weigh. At that time, I weighed 4 lbs more than what I do now. That is two weeks later exactly.

I feel healthier, and I even act like I am healthier. I’ve done a lot of thinking and how to do this major change.

I have decided to change my eating habits. I am such an emotional eater, it is not even funny. I love to eat food. I’ll eat when I’m happy, I’ll eat when I’m sad, and I’ll especially eat when I’m upset. That’s who I was. This is the biggest change ever to me because, it’s something I really want.

Every morning before I take my dog, Pocket, outside for a walk, I will drink a glass of water. Water helps make yourself more full before you eat. It also helps your body digest the food you are about to it. When I come back in from the walk, I will eat just one slice of whole grain bread. White and wheat bread are bad for you.

I also write in my ipod what food and how many calories I eat in a day. I do not go over 1200 in a day. Instead of eating 3 meals a day, I eat 3 meals with 2 snacks. I also eat my dessert before I ate my dinner. It gives it a better chance to burn that calorie off. My dessert is typically that second snack in the day.

When you are bored, you eat. When I’m bored, all I do is think about food. I fiddle my thumbs and just think about how much food I want to eat.

I want to provide you with some information that I have found online that helped me lose this 4 lbs.

1.) Drink a glass of water before any meal.
2.) Eat a meal. In 3 hours, have a snack. After that, wait 3 hours and have lunch. In another 3 hours, have your dessert. Then wait 3 more hours, and have your dinner.
3.) Get rid of the bad foods, so when you crave them, grab an apple. (or something you know you will like)
4.) If you sit down all day, walk while you are on break at work.

I hope to share more information I’ve come to see.

Always,

Samantha

To Talk

I needed to talk to you today,
But you were not here to listen.
I followed you to the door,
And then you closed it,
Breaking my heart.
You left looking into my eyes,
Calm and distant away from your heart
A beat here,
A beat there
Moments dying off.
I waited at the door,
Waiting for our song to play.
I needed to talk to you today,
But you were not here to listen.
I changed the way I looked.
I even changed the way I ate to lose it all,
And you still haven’t noticed me.
I focused on your heart,
And you haven’t focused on mine.
Another day has gone by,
And you haven’t heard my voice.
I can hear you laughing in the halls,
Keeping me insane while I look.
I look for your heart there,
And I won’t give up.
A person who gives up fails,
And a person who gives up has nothing.
I want something.
I want someone.
I want you.
I needed to talk to you today,
Just to say I love you.
Just to say how grand you are.
Where are you?
You still aren’t listening.

Another day at Geico…

I do not know what I would like to write at this moment. I know I am in the stage of being confused about some things. At times I wonder why the grass is green and the sky is blue. But I know that science is in charge of that.
The way I feel right now, it’s a kind of feeling of not knowing my own strength. I defeat myself in this kind of stage. It doesn’t happen all the time. I just wonder what life is about, and why God put me here to serve me as for His purpose. I mean, we all have a purpose in His eyes, right?

Was it to change someone’s life? Because if the answer to that question was a yes, then I have definetly been not doing my job. I just wonder what would that specific purpose be. I know I am not a Mother Teresa, but I would love to do something bigger than what I am.

I’ve also decided I wanted to pick up a new hobby. I need something that can keep my mind occupied because my mind is currently. Let’s look at a hobby list that might interest me:
1.) Cooking I could only do this when I could…and I don’t have a lot of time to. I love to cook, don’t get me wrong. This is usually what Tony does.
2.) Running/Jogging I could do this also when I get done with work, the only problem is that I’m out of shape, that even jogging wouldn’t help me. I guess I could jog for a bit then walk then jog again.
3.) ReadingI love to read! I would be so happy to make this apart of my life again!
4.) BloggingI’m doing that right now, and it seems to be helping me so far. What do you think?
5.) DrawingI use to love to draw, but I couldn’t really ever do it best way.

6.) CrochetI actually do this right now, but sometimes it gets boring very easy. And I stop in the middle of the jobs. I would be great at this if I could just finish it.

Well, I’ve decided that I am going to write another poem in the next few days. I hope you read it. Please stay tuned…

Always,

TheSamSlam

If There Was No Tony

When I was a little girl, I’ve always prayed for a great man to come into my life. I sat down in front of my bed, had my hands in front of me, and just begged God to give me the best man that he can make for me.

Now, I do not know if God actually heard that prayer, but till this day I have met a couple few men. The man that is currently in my life (and I know for sure that he’ll be the last), sort of resembles the looks of my grandfather. (In no way, shape or form is he related.)

I met him while I was working at CVS/Pharmacy, a little more than 2 years ago. The first time him and I ever spoke was on Facebook chat. I asked him if he could possibly work the next day for me because I couldn’t make it in. I couldn’t make it in because I was stuck in Washington, DC terminal of Greyhound. That was the worst 8 hours of my life.

I was going through a horrible break up at the time, and I really did not like the other gender. I didn’t even like myself. When I say horrible break up, I mean the worst break up you could possibly think of. That’s going a little too bit personal. (Then again, blogs are a little too bit personal!)

Anyways, the reason why I am bringing this up because is our two year mark is coming up, and I am unsure what to get him. I think I’ve decided on a few different things, but still at the point which one would I like to make.

Our first date, was on Feburary 1st 2010 at 3:36pm. I was running late, and that was the time when I walked into the bowling alley. It was sort of a blind date because I didn’t expect him to be there. I thought it was going to be our friend Trish, who we both love to death, and our other dear friend, Dawn. If it wasn’t for these two wonderful ladies, we wouldn’t have each other.

I didn’t really get to know my Tony until one day at the Chick Fil A’ in Clemson, SC. We haven’t even had our first kiss yet, but we have been together for almost a month. He looked at me, as I looked at him, and it surprisingly started to snow. That is the very moment I fell in love with him.

He has helped me grow and given me the strength to be the best person that I am.

And I quote that we both enjoy…”It’s okay to be hated for who you are, then to be loved for who you are not.”

At Home

Well, I’m just sitting here at home tonight. I am watching Family Guy with the most wonderful man in the world. Tony and I are enjoying the tv show, while the dogs are wrestling in the floor.

I made myself some dinner while Tony ate his leftovers from yesterday. The funny thing about Tony and myself, we do not like to eat left overs unless it’s his momma’s cooking, or if it is pizza.

But I made Apple Sauce Noots!
This feeds about two people.
What you need?
2 cups of egg noodles.
4 eggs.
2 cups of apple sauce.
3 tsp of butter

First, boil water then put the noodles in.
Wait until the noodles are boiled to melt butter in skillet.
After melted butter, drain noodles and mix with butter.
Scramble eggs in skillet and cook on low. (When cooking on low, will let noodles get cooked the right away until the eggs are done)
Noodles take about 7 minutes to finish.
Place noodles on plate.
Then eggs on top of the noodles.
Then apple sauce on top of the eggs.

I promise you this is delicious. It’s something my family and I share, but I wanted to share with you. It might be weird, but hell, who isn’t?

Other than that, I made chicken over the weekend for Mr. TB. He completely fell in love with it, and has asked me to make it again. I would love to, if I had the chicken. I wish when you look in a cook book, it would have a full dinner selection. For instance, I’m having chicken tonight. What goes best with chicken? Anything really, but I would like to have the option of a cool recipe to go with it.

Other than the awesome chicken, I made some muffins. We ate them over the week, and they are officially gone.

As I’m typing right now, my dog Pocket, has completely gone insane. He’s running around like he’s crazy!

Well, I am going to finish watching the show. I hope you enjoyed reading, and have a wonderful evening.

Last day of 2011

I woke up this morning looking at the alarm clock. I couldn’t believe what time it was. I looked around me and I saw Doug at the bottom of my feet and Tony beside me asleep.
I got up and proceeded to the bathroom an curled my toes into the carpet. I opened the door to the bathroom and walked into Pocket asleep. Pocket is my dog who has bladder issues and can’t sleep outside of the bathroom at night. He seems to control it in a smaller space.
After I get done in the bathroom, I come out and get myself some breakfast. I love me some peanut butter Reese cup cereal. Later in the day, Tony told me that wasn’t a good breakfast. He can just hush. I enjoyed it very well.
After Tony woke up, we got ready to go over to our family’s house (where we are currently now) and having a blast. Mr. Bryant just made some delicious burgers. I am going to have some. See you later.
